An Experiment

Every season we do a portrait series for our athletes of the year. We do it so often that we are constantly trying to come up with new ways to shoot the athletes. I came up the idea of shooting them all on the ground overhead with a ladder so it would give a flat floating effect. I'm still not convinced I really nailed it but I was still glad I tried something a little different. There were mixed reactions in the community. Some people loved it and other people hated it. It was the first time in a while that I got hate mail. One woman actually asked Jill, "Why are they on the ground...are they lazy?"

On the river.....

Last week I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to ride on a batteau down the James River during the James River Batteau Festival (read previous post that explains what this is). It truly was one of the most memorable assignments I have ever had. Not to be too cheesy but I feel one with the river people. I was really taken how much everyone took care for one another. There was a level of camaraderie I have rarely witness. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't already making plans for next year.

Here are a few scenes from the day. Read Liz's story here about our adventure for the day.
